Music, Lyrics, and an Old Demo!

Nearly a month ago I was going through a box of CD's and found an old demo I had recorded during my final year of high school. The memories came flooding back instantly! I had applied to a music production program for college and that was the main reason for making the demo. At the time, I had been writing lyrics for just over 3 years. My library to pick from was pretty big! So the task at hand was to choose pieces that I felt were the most honest representation of me during that time period. The music used on the recordings were instrumentals to previously released hits from other artists because at the time, I had no understanding of song structure, timing, or a way to compose my own instrumentals.

The demo consisted of 3 tracks, two of which were about Mrs. of the moment, and the other was a tribute piece for someone I was very close to. In total, I recorded the three tracks over a 3 day period, while in school. The music teacher allowed me to use his office as a small studio, which I still am very grateful for. He also mixed and mastered the demo for me, which was a massive help and something I will never forget.

Unfortunately, I did not get into the music production program, but I have improved immensely since this demo was recorded. I am still writing, still recording, and the words and ideas never stop coming now. Since I started writing my own lyrics nearly 12 years ago, I have grown in every single way, as a person and as an artist and performer. I have never wanted to do anything else. Writing, performing, and producing is where I hang my hat, and that is where it will stay for a long, long time. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Leigh "L.T." Tenebro-Dickey

"It Was No Dream", a song I wrote back in 2007 right before I recorded the demo. It is actually the only track on the demo where my timing was on point! The instrumental used in this original recording is from Craig David's, "7 Days!"
